About My Personal Internet Journey
In the Beginning
I started my internet business more than 10 years ago without putting any money into it, save for web hosting fees.
At the time, I had my own courier business to take care of so my online endeavour was purely part time.
It was also for this reason that it took a few years to really start making money.
However, if I had known back then what I know now, my bank balance would look a whole lot better as it was so much easier to make loads of money back then.
Anyhow, I subsequently put myself through a 1 year university course on Internet u0026amp; Web Design which I passed with distinction.
As I spent a great deal of time researching best SEO practices as well as coding (HTML u0026amp; CSS) my own responsive sites before WordPress was a thing, I don’t think my Uni course had any impact on my journey.
My earnings still weren’t earth shattering and I was getting a little despondent.
What Changed
My first big break came about 5 years after I’d started.
I was on an online business forum, reading a post from someone who’d just received a $100,000 cheque for his past month’s affiliate earnings.
Reading all the comments u0026amp; his responses, which weren’t giving much away, suddenly triggered my ‘out of the box’ thinking.
It was then I had an ‘aha’ moment and knew immediately what niche I had to target.
I first checked that there were some affiliate programs that offered suitable products that I could promote and then registered a domain, built a site and got traffic to it.
It soon climbed to the #1 spot on Google for most of the popular keywords u0026amp; phrases for the niche which it dominated for about 3 years when the Google Penguin update wiped it out.
Whilst I’d had a good run with that site, I wasn’t going to be defeated by Google and set about building more sites in line with Google’s best practices.
It’s more difficult to get first page rankings these days but there’s more than one way to skin a cat as they say.

It’s Never Too Late To Start
Despite it being more difficult to get an internet business to cough up loads of money nowadays, than it was when I first started, it’s never to late to get started.
